PEDDIE, Robert Alexander (1870-1951) National Liberal Club c1891; St Bride c1904-1914
He was a member of the LA from 1891 until 1914 and first Chairman and Honorary Fellow (1895/1896) of the LAA, later the AAL; he read a paper on the new association at a monthly meeting of the LA in December 1895. He became a partner in the firm of Grafton and Co., established c1912, and was responsible for its antiquarian bookselling. The firm also published his numerous bibliographies of which the best known was probably Subject index of books published up to and including 1880 (4 vols, 1933-1948).
